Majuli River Island: Till now in India you only know about the islands of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This is because people from all over the world come here to visit. But there is only one such island in India, where there is the largest river island in the world.
This island is in Majuli in the north eastern state of India, Assam, due to which it is named Majuli Island. Majuli is the world’s largest river island located on the Brahmaputra river in the state of Assam. Located just 20 km from Jorhat city and 347 km from Guwahati, Majuli Island is spread over a total area of about 1250 sq km.
One of the most beautiful places in Assam, Majuli is also presenting a strong claim for one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the year 2016, Majuli Island gained a lot of fame after it was declared as the world’s largest river island.
About one and a half lakh people live on this island. This island is famous for its beautiful views, cultural heritage and vibrant traditions, due to which it attracts more tourists who are ready to take a new experience.
