If reports are to be believed, then you can be charged $50 i.e. Rs 4,000 for going to Hawaii. The government here has given the name of Green Fee. The reason for the imposition of tourist tax is also that the government wants to save those natural spaces of Hawaii, where maximum number of tourists gather.
Hawaii Green Fee has recently been approved. Here a tourist above 15 years of age will have to pay $50 as tax. The target of the government here is to collect tax of 400 to 500 million dollars annually.
According to Hawaii Governor Josh Green, 10 million tourists come here every year. However, one of the means of tourist tax is that revenue should be collected from the people coming here.
Even before Hawaii, a similar tax has been imposed in Barcelona city of Spain. People coming to visit Barcelona from April 1 will have to pay tax.
