Mumbai: From Marathi to Hindi cinema, actress Sai Tamhankar, who has left a mark in the hearts of the audience with her performances, is currently seen hosting National Geographic Channel’s show ‘Postcards from Maharashtra’. Expressing his feelings about this show, Sai had a special conversation with Navbharat where he also shared his experience of working on it. Here are some excerpts from this conversation…
- Any important reason for choosing this show?
Through this show, I got the opportunity to visit places where I usually could not go. This show teaches you that we must travel in life. Through this show, I would get an opportunity to travel outside and see new places, so I agreed to this show.
- How much have you enjoyed this journey of working as a host on the show?
To tell the truth, I would not have eaten as many sweets in my life while shooting for this show. I am shocked to think that if we have such a variety of dishes in our state, then how many types of dishes we will have in the whole country. Doing this show has inspired me a lot for solo trips and now I feel that I have gained more confidence to go out.
- In the show, you will be seen exploring these locations of the state?
You will see me in cities like Pune, Nashik, Aurangabad. Geographically, these cities together represent the form of a diamond. These cities are quite different from each other not only in terms of location but also in terms of culture. In a city like Nashik where there is a winery on one side, Trimbakeshwar temple is also on the other side. From weather to food, these cities are quite different.
- Being from Maharashtra yourself, how proud do you feel to represent the heritage and culture of your state?
I was very happy because I was representing Maharashtra through this show. In the journey of shooting this show, I got detailed information about many things related to my state and it was a very new experience for me.
- The pressure on artists has increased with the advent of OTT as people are now watching worldwide content, what is your opinion on this?
According to me, it is not pressure but happiness that due to OTT many actors got an opportunity to present their talent. Actors like me are performance centric and they are always hungry for good roles, these are great times for them.
