Pandit Birju Maharaj was born on February 4, 1938 in Lucknow. His full name is ‘Pandit Brijmohan Mishra’. (Pandit Brij Mohan Mishra). His father’s name is Jagannath Maharaj, who was also a well known Kathak dancer. Birju Maharaj was earlier named Dukhharan.
