Los Angeles: Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas described the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill as a ‘historic achievement’ and said that the next step should be its quick and effective implementation. Priyanka has welcomed the passage of this long pending bill on the social media platform Instagram. A few days ago, the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill was passed in a special session of Parliament.

Passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Bill is a step in the right direction, but the next important step is its prompt and effective implementation. This is an India that truly supports and empowers its women. The bill to reserve one-third seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies got Parliament’s nod on Thursday with Rajya Sabha assent to it.

It now requires the approval of a majority of state legislatures. However, this reservation will be implemented only after the census and delimitation work is completed. Earlier, actresses Kangana Ranaut, Bhumi Pednekar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Kirti Kulhari had expressed their support for the bill.
