Islamabad: For the first time, Miss Universe contestant has been selected from Pakistan. Karachi-based model Erica Robin was crowned Miss Universe Pakistan 2023 at a resort in Maldives on Thursday, which has angered the Pakistani government and the Pakistani intelligence agency.
According to reports, Erica Robin has been chosen Miss Universe without the approval of the Pakistani government, for which Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakkar has ordered Pakistan’s Intelligence Bureau to investigate the matter. According to reports, the company organizing this event of Miss Universe Pakistan 2023 is from UAE.
IB has given a report to the Prime Minister. In which it is said that Eugene Publishing and Marketing, a Dubai based business group company, has been appointed as the representative of Pakistan 2023. The company had received 200 applications to participate in this competition. According to the Miss Universe website, any private company can submit names for Miss Universe contestants, which does not require permission from any country’s government.
Murtaza Solangi, a minister in the caretaker government of Pakistan, wrote on his X (Twitter) account that only the government institutions here can represent Pakistan and its government. No other private institutions or companies can take any decisions on our behalf. The government has been demanded to take strict action against those responsible for this. Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami MP Mushtaq Ahmed Khan has demanded the government to clarify its stand in this matter. She has described participating in the Miss Universe contest as a matter of embarrassment for Pakistani women.
It is noteworthy that 24 year old Erica Robin was born on September 14, 1999 in a Christian family in Karachi. Erica entered the world of modeling in January 2020 after completing her graduation degree. Now Erica Robin will represent Pakistan in the Miss Universe 2023 competition to be held in San Salvador on November 18, 2023.
