Director reveals after the success of ‘Pushpa’, says- ‘Wanted to make a film with Mahesh Babu but Allu Arjun…’ Chandan wanted to make a film on the subject of smuggling but it could not happen. The filmmaker said that he later tweaked the story and cast Telugu star Allu Arjun in the film, thus starting the journey of multi-language films like ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘Pushpa: The Rule’. The first film released on 17 December in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam. The story of this film is the story of red sandalwood smuggling in the hills of Andhra Pradesh. Sukumar told PTI in an interview that the story he told to Mahesh Babu was also on red sandalwood smuggling but that was sometime back. But that didn’t work. After this, when a different story was written, he wanted a kind of attitude in the character. The background of the film remained the same but the story changed.
The Telugu filmmaker revealed that when he started working actively on the new script, he had only one actor in mind for it and it was Arjun. The two had earlier made ‘Arya’ and ‘Arya 2’. The filmmaker said that they are good friends and after hearing the story, the actor agreed to work. He told that ‘Pushpa’ was being made in Telugu language only but after Arjun’s bane it was thought to be made in many languages.
