Mumbai : Famous playback singer Asha Bhosle turned 90 on Friday. Referring to the difficulties of life, she said that when she looks back today, she finds everything funny. The evergreen singer is attending a ‘live concert’ in Dubai on the special occasion of her birthday on Friday. He said that like an ever-flowing river, music never ends.
Discussing her eight decade long singing journey, Asha Bhosle said in an interview with the media, “At the age of 90, I have to stand on the stage for three hours to sing, I am happy that I can do this even at this age. I can.” He sang his first film song ‘Chal Chal Nav Bala’ for the Marathi film ‘Majha Bal’ in 1943. After nearly 80 years of experience and around 12,000 songs, Asha is ready to present the show again.

“Music is like breathing,” he said. And, it hasn’t always been easy.” Asha Bhosle, who has done playback singing for many actresses including Meena Kumari and Kajol, has sung songs for every mood. He said, “If we don’t breathe, a person dies. For me, music is my breath. I have lived my life with this thinking. I have given a lot to music. I feel very good that I have overcome the difficult times. Many times I felt that I would not be able to hold on, but I held on.”
Asha Bhosle said, “Music never ends. This is the river. If someone says, ‘I am perfect’, it is wrong to say so, because no one is perfect. You always have to change with the times.” He said, “I have sung songs for the main artiste as well as the dancers…. I wish I had sung more songs in different languages. I wish I could do more classical singing.”
The playback singer said that it is not easy to deal with the ups and downs in the highly competitive music industry, but she feels happy that she overcame the difficult phase. He said, “In every field, there is politics. There is politics in films too, so it is not easy. I strongly believe in destiny and I believe that whatever is meant for me, I will definitely get it and whatever is not meant for me, I will never get it. I faced difficulties but today when I look back, it all seems fun because I overcame it.” (agency)
