Mumbai. Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh starrer film ’83’ has done an overall good business at the box office. However, the third wave of COVID-19 spoiled the entire earnings game of the film. But, despite the restrictions imposed due to COVID, fans are still flocking to the theaters to see Ranveer in action. The film was released on December 24 last year.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the film has earned Rs 183 crore at the worldwide box office. According to business and trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan, there has been a decline in the film’s earnings in the third week. He wrote in a tweet on Twitter, “#83TheFilm WW Box Office… Week 1 – 123.75 cr, Week 2 – 50.71 cr, Week 3, Day 1 – 1.83 cr, Day 2 – 2.07 cr, Day 3 – 2.34 cr , Day 4 – 0.91 cr, Day 5 – 0.83 cr, Day 6 – 0.95 cr, Total – 183.39 cr.
Reliance Entertainment, one of the production houses backing 83, shared the news that the film has collected Rs 60.16 crore at the overseas box office. A tweet by Reliance Entertainment on Twitter read, “Overseas Box Office Collection – Day 20. #ThisIs83 Watch it ,, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Also in 3D.”
For information, let us tell you that the story of the film is based on the 1983 World Cup. In the film, Ranveer Singh is playing the role of former cricketer Kapil Dev while Deepika Padukone is playing his wife Romi. Apart from Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, the film also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Chirag Patil, Hardy Sandhu, Ammy Virk and Pankaj Tripathi. Let us tell you that this film was going to be released in the year 2020 itself, but due to COVID, the release of the film was postponed and the film was released on the occasion of Christmas last year.
