Gujarat School Education: There is a huge shortage of teachers in the government primary schools of Gujarat. The posts of teachers are vacant in primary schools of many districts of the state including Ahmedabad.

Gujarat School Education: There is a huge shortage of teachers in the government schools of Gujarat. Government teachers in different districts of the state (Govt Jobs 2023) More than 2500 posts are lying vacant. Only one teacher per school is posted in 54 government primary schools in two districts. More than 900 posts of teachers are vacant in these districts. While giving information in the assembly, the state government said that steps are being taken to provide proper education to the students studying in government schools.
In response to the question of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Hemant Ahir, Education Minister Kuber Dindor said that 54 government primary schools are running in Jamnagar and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts. There is only one teacher per school. He told that out of these 54 government schools, 46 are in Devbhoomi Dwarka and eight in Jamnagar. The Education Minister said that 330 posts are vacant in Jamnagar and 575 in Devbhoomi Dwarka. He told that this situation has arisen due to transfers and retirements in these districts.
There is shortage of teachers in these districts as well.
The posts of 2,082 teachers are lying vacant in government primary schools in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar districts of the state. The state government gave this information in the assembly on Wednesday. According to media reports, the government, in response to a written reply, said that there is a shortage of 1,708 primary teachers in Ahmedabad district, of which 1,085 are in Ahmedabad city.

There is a shortage of teachers in classes 1-8. Similarly, by December 2022, there was a shortage of 374 teachers in Gandhinagar district, of which 67 are in Gandhinagar city. The government has a shortage of 168 language teachers, 222 science and math teachers and 172 social studies teachers in these two districts.

There is no electricity in these schools.
In a separate reply to a question asked by Congress MLA Arun Modhwadia, the government said seven out of nine primary schools in Porbandar district do not have electricity, while 54 schools in Junagadh district do not have boundary walls.
