Odisha Matric Exam 2023: Odisha Board 10th Exams 10 March (Board Exam 2023) starting from. This time around 18 thousand students have left the Odisha matriculation examination. The increase in the dropout rate at the secondary level remains a matter of concern for the Department of School and Mass Education. A total of more than 5 lakh students had registered for the 10th board exam.
According to media reports, 14000 students across the state did not appear in the Summative-I examination held in November last year. This number went up to 18000 in Summative-II exam. In such a situation, the evaluation of the students will be done on the basis of their performance in Summative-I, Summative-II and Internal Assessment Examination 40-40-20%.
This time the examination fee was not taken
According to the Hindustan Times report, when a student fills the form after paying the examination fee, he/she compulsorily appears in the examination. Since the government had waived off the fees this year. School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Dash said that it is clear that the student will not be forced to appear in the examination and he can opt out of it.

He said that I do not know the exact number of dropout students and will inquire about it after the examination is over. The department will take the matter seriously and find out the reasons responsible for it.

Last year 44 thousand had left the exam
In the matriculation examination of 2022, more than 44,000 students did not appear. Whereas in 2021, only 4,412 students left the exam. However, this time there was a decrease in the number of students leaving the exam. At the same time, the officials said that the number is still a matter of concern.
How many students of which district dropped out
Tribal-dominated Bolangir district saw the highest number of student dropouts at 1,199, coastal Balasore reported 1,158 dropouts, followed by Kalahandi at 766, Jajpur (755), Koraput (686), Khurda (494), Cuttack (420), Kendrapara ( 425) and in Jagatsinghpur (235). Similarly, 500-500 students of Open School and Madhyamik Examination remained absent from the examination. This year a total of 5,41,247 students in the state had filled the form to appear in the examination.
