Professor Ranjit Ramachandran of IIM has come forward as the biggest example of this proverb. Ranjit, who once spent his life in a mud hut, is now a professor at IIM. The struggle behind his becoming a professor is going to inspire millions of youth.
Ranjit Ramachandran has also been a watchman outside the BSNL telephone exchange office at Panathur in Kasaragod district of Kerala. Now he is a professor at the Indian Institute of Management i.e. IIM Ranchi. Let’s take a look at his success.

Ranjit Ramachandran is a resident of a small village in Kerala. His father is a tailor and his mother works as a daily wage worker in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA). Ranjith completed his graduation from St. Pius College in Kerala. He holds a degree in Economics.
After graduation, he went on to study for a doctoral degree at IIT Madras, one of the premier institutes in the country. Ranjith says that he used to have difficulty in talking at IIT Madras, because he did not know any other language other than Malayalam.
This is how IIM professor became
Ranjit lived in a dilapidated single-room mud hut. To make a living, he used to do chokidari at night. After doing his doctorate from IIT Madras, Ranjith joined Christ University, Bangalore for two months. He got posting in IIM Ranchi. According to media reports, he was also selected as a professor in Calicut University.
Ranjit’s profile on IIM Ranchi’s website states that his areas of interest include economic geography, foreign direct investment and industrial economics. His research papers have been published in various national and international journals.
