    H3N2 virus infection increasing in this state, all schools closed till March 26

    Puducherry schools Closed: Due to increasing infection of H3N2, all the schools in Puducherry have been closed for 10 days. All schools in the state will remain closed till 26 March 2023.

    Puducherry Schools Closed: Due to the spread of H3N2 virus in Puducherry, it has been announced to keep all schools closed from 16 to 26 March 2023. Puducherry Education Minister A Namassivam announced the closure of schools in Puducherry on Wednesday. H3N2 flu spreads rapidly from one infected person to another, due to which the government of the union territory has decided to keep the schools closed.

    ANI tweeted that Puducherry Education Minister A Namassivam said that all schools in the state will remain closed from March 16 to 26 in view of the H3N2 virus. This order will be applicable to all government and private schools from the state.

    The order will be applicable for schools in all the four zones of Puducherry namely Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam due to increasing cases of influenza especially among children. In the Assembly, Home and Education Minister A. Nammashivayam said that in view of the spread of influenza among children, the government has issued an order to keep all government and private schools from primary to 8th standard closed.

    According to media reports, H3N2 virus infection is increasing rapidly in India. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, 451 cases of H3N2 virus have been reported in India between January 2 and March 5.

    The first death due to H3N2 influenza virus occurred in Hassan district of Karnataka, where an 82-year-old man died due to H3N2 virus. So far, about 7 people have died due to this virus. Puducherry has so far reported 79 H3N2-like or related cases.
