UGC New Short Term Courses: University Grants Commission to attract international students (UGC) Will start short term course based on Indian Heritage. For this, UGC has issued guidelines to higher educational institutions. Culture, Vedic Mathematics, Universal Human Values, Yoga, Ayurveda etc. will be taught in the curriculum.
The draft guidelines mention that there will be short-term multi-level credit-based modular programs with multiple entry and exit based on Indian heritage and culture, so as to promote the interest of people from abroad visiting India. Could

These courses also cover Indian literature, Indian sculpture, Indian music and dance forms, drama, crafts and craftsmanship, rituals and Indian knowledge systems. Along with this, culture, Vedic mathematics, universal human values, yoga, Ayurveda etc. have also been included. As per the draft guidelines, the courses may be offered at three levels – Introductory, Intermediate and Advanced.

Who can take admission?
People from different countries having interest in Indian heritage and knowledge system and who have enrolled in such specialized courses to acquire knowledge will be eligible for admission. Specific eligibility conditions may be prescribed by the concerned university or institution offering such courses. The UGC said 60 hours are prescribed in each program with a hybrid mode of learning and the respective institutes will have to frame the syllabus. With the implementation of the National Education Policy, emphasis has been placed on Indian knowledge systems and culture and heritage.
In universities like DU, such courses on Vedic Mathematics, Ethics and Values in Ancient Indian Traditions, Yoga, Ayurveda and other papers were offered to the students in the first semester.
