Jamia Millia Islamia, except for 20 courses in undergraduate and postgraduate courses this year, has introduced Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to the rest of the courses.CUET) has decided not to implement. A senior officer gave information about this. The university has given the reason behind this that there is a lack of time to change its rules. In such a situation, students taking admission in Jamia Millia Islamia University will have to keep in mind that in which courses they will get admission on CUET score this year.
This year, Jamia University will offer admission through CUET in 20 courses including B.Sc (Hons) Physics, B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry. This number is 10 more than the previous academic year. The central institute has informed the University Grants Commission (UGC) about its latest decision by writing a letter. The university has also informed that it will implement CUET-UG in all courses from 2024-25 as it needs enough time to revise the admission rules.

CUET not adopted for all courses
UGC had started CUET last year for admission to graduate and postgraduate courses. Jamia University has not adopted CUET for all its graduate and postgraduate courses. Recently, UGC had asked Jamia Millia Islamia to implement CUET-UG in all courses from 2023-24. In its reply sent to the UGC, the university said that it will implement CUET for 15 undergraduate and five postgraduate courses.

Nazim Hussain Al-Jafri, the registrar of the university, said, “We have received the letter from the UGC. And we have replied to him that this year we will not implement CUET completely as there is not much time left to change the university rules. But from the next academic year, CUET-UG will be implemented. He said, admission in UG courses in the university will be taken through CUET. We have informed the UGC about this.
