MS Swaminathan, who is called the messiah of farmers, raised the issue of farmers several times in the country’s Parliament. MS Swaminathan has been a member of Rajya Sabha from 2007 to 2013. During this time, he also put forward many issues related to farming before the government. The full name of Dr. MS Swaminathan is Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan. Swaminathan was born on 7 August 1925 in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. His father MK Sambasivan was a medical doctor and his mother Parvati Thangammal was a housewife. Swaminathan was educated at the University College, Thiruvananthapuram and later at the Agricultural College, Coimbatore.
