The trend of safe cars is continuously increasing in India. Now Hyundai Verna has also become one of the safest cars in the country. It has got 5 star safety rating in Global NCAP crash test. This is Hyundai’s first car sold in India which comes with 5 star rating. The model that has been tested is made-in-India. It has been provided with safety features like 6 airbags, ESC, rear ISOFIX mount and seat belt reminder for all seats.

Tough competition from Maruti Suzuki
In the Indian market, Hyundai is giving tough competition to the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki. In September 2023, Hyundai has sold the highest number of cars in any month. The South Korean company has sold 71,641 units last month with a growth of 13.35 percent compared to September 2022. Earlier, the South Korean company has created a stir by launching Hyundai Exter with 6 airbags for just Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom price).
Maruti Suzuki’s position in terms of safe cars is not good. No Maruti car available in India has received 5 star safety rating. With Hyundai Exeter and 5 Star Verna, Hyundai has increased the problems for Maruti. Hyundai is the second largest car company in India after Maruti Suzuki.
2023 Hyundai Verna: Crash Test Point
Now testing of cars sold in India will be done under Bharat NCAP. Many auto companies have registered for this. Coming back to Hyundai Verna. Otherwise, the sedan has got 28.18 points out of 34 for extreme passenger safety in the Global NCAP crash test. At the same time, Hyundai’s car scored 42 points out of 49 for child safety.
Hyundai Verna: Safety Features
In case of side collision, Verna has performed better. This car is designed to provide good protection to the front passengers. Otherwise it was OK in side pole impact test. Otherwise, the ESC performance of the Verna was also tested, which was as per the requirement of Global NCAP. This car is according to UN 127 and GTR9 protection rules for pedestrians.
The new generation model of Hyundai Verna sedan comes with Level-2 ADAS technology. It has modern safety features like forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lead vehicle departure alert, driver attention warning.
Hyundai Verna: Price
The ex-showroom price of Hyundai Verna in the Indian market starts from Rs 10.96 lakh. In the mid-size sedan segment, apart from Verna, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus have received 5 star safety rating. Although all these three cars are 5 star rated, but Slavia and Virtus are a little better for the protection of adult passengers.
