The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that it will examine about 1,20,000 vehicles of the 2023 model. The agency said that in both the cases, the Model Y cars were delivered to the customers without the bolts being installed, even though these bolts hold the wheel to the steering column. A friction fit kept the steering wheel in place, but when the SUV was driven, they came apart due to excessive pressure.

NHTSA reported that the cars had low mileage and were missing a bolt that connects the steering wheel to the steering column. As per the report of NHTSA, there has been no death or accident due to this defect. The agency will see how widespread this flaw is and how many cars can be affected by it. Apart from this, Tesla’s manufacturing process will also be seen. Looking at the initial investigation, 2023 Model Y cars can be recalled.
